Historian’s Report
Annual Meeting of the TN SOMD
November 03, 2007 in Nashville, TN
As I finish my second year as Historian for the TN Society, I wish to extend to each member and applicant my sincerest gratitude for the thoughts, prayers, and patience shown to me during this difficult year.
Earlier this year, Nancy Winn’s name was submitted to the Board of Assistants for approval to serve as Assistant Historian. This appointment was to digitize all “closed” files of the TN Society for storage and posterity. I am proud to report that Nancy accomplished the task, thereby lifting a sizable burden from the Historian’s Library and file drawers. All files considered closed, or inactive, in the TN Society are now computerized. The goal for the following year is to do the same with all active files.
This year’s report covers activity of the Historian’s Office from Nov 12, 2006 through Sept 30, 2007. Following this report, future reports will cover the annual activity from Oct 1 through Sept 30, thus allowing time to prepare the report for the annual meeting.
The Historian’s office ended last year with a balance of $58.45 in the operating budget. An additional $150.00 was added for the current years’ expenses for supplies and postage. Continuing with the careful use of electronic communication, the Historian’s office has used this money to add to the library a recent publication of the Silver Book series, as well as being able to pay the current Postal Box fee from this money.
