2007 Education Committee Report

by Charles Ward, Committee Chairman

The TN Society continues the placement of copies of the Mayflower Quarterly in Tennessee libraries.

As has been reported at past meetings, the David H. Gray History Fair has been erratic in terms of its implementation.   Over the last three years, the Chattanooga Regional History Museum, which oversees the Fair, has alternated from enthusiasm to apathy.   Unfortunately, this year (2007), the museum expressed no interest in hereditary society involvement, even though they had expressed great interest last year.  The Education Committee seeks to find another outlet for our participation.

As Chairman, I have maintained an active outreach program with local elementary schools, churches and other hereditary societies.  Earlier this year, I was asked to be a guest speaker at a meeting of the local chapter of the Colonial Dames, speaking on the differences between the Puritans and Pilgrims.

I conclude by announcing that I intend to retire as Education Committee Chairman at the time of the next election.  I have enjoyed the opportunity to serve the TN Society as Education Committee Chairman and hope that any members interested in serving in that capacity will let their interest be known.
